Karla Adams is a Mexican author and illustrator who loves to depict the beauty in simple things and strives to keep her work vibrant and playful.
Her illustrations center on the everyday experiences that have shaped how she sees the world, her bright color palettes and scribbly brushstrokes often include narrative details for children to discover.
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Concept Art, Karla worked as a background artist in the award-winning animated documentary “Home is somewhere else,” as well as other animation projects, such as TV commercials, museum shows and indie short films. Her life-long love of children’s media motivated her to polish her illustration portfolio and pursue a career in publishing. Karla’s biggest inspirations are the landscape, culture, and people of Puebla, where she grew up as the eldest of four siblings, gathering a collection of funny anecdotes.
When she’s not drawing, Karla can usually be found watching reality tv, cooking, or walking alongside her border collie, Lula.
Karla is proudly represented by Adriana Dominguez (adominguez@aevitascreative.com) at ACM Kids & Illustration, please contact her for publishing inquires.
